TRAINEE SELECTION

1) What level of pre-education is required?	Uniformed staff - secondary education, Civilian staff - secondary education / university degree
2) What is the minimum – maximum age of trainees?	Uniformed staff & Civilian staff - 18 - Uniformed staff - 30 (trainees), Civilian staff - no limit
3) Which tests are included in the recruitment assessment?
Physical	No, but for uniformed staff carried out during employment
Psychological/Personality	No
Language	No
Other	Good health condition, no criminal record.
INITIAL/BASIC TRAINING Length of initial/basic training of prison officer? (*see definition)
1) Excluding in-service training	Uniformed staff - 4 months, Civilian staff - 5 days
2) Including in-service training
How many weeks class room?	Uniformed staff - 18 weeks, Civilian staff - 1 week & 3 months probationary period
How many weeks practical prison work?	Uniformed staff - up to 3 months prior Basic training and 2 weeks during Basic training
3) Is the initial/basic training accredited?	No
4) EQF level of initial/basic training	After successfully passing the Basic training they aquire ranks
5) What are the subjects that are trained at the initial/basic level?	Uniformed – law, affairs and actions of the judicial police, prison officers rouls of law, psychosocial treatment, psychology, pedagogy, penology, communication skills, violent behavior, risk prevention, group psychology, juveniles behavior, occupational safety, crisis intervention, teamwork, child protection, drug abuse, weapons, shooting skills, administration, PC, first aid etc. Civilian - prison system, probation service, civil servants and employees, law, cooperation, communication, teamwork, criminogenic needs, conditional release etc.
6) What does final exam contain?	Civilian staff - no exam Uniformed staff - 5 exams composed of written, practical and oral part: 1) martial arts 2) prison rouls of law 3) affairs and actions of the judicial police 4) psychosocial treatment od prisoners 5) armaments and schooting skills
7) What type of exam?	Oral,Written,Practical
CONTINUOUS TRAINING
1) Is continuous training obligatory?	No
2) If yes, which modules are obligatory?	Croatian legislation stipulates that lifelong learning is mandatory for all civil servants.
