The National Correctional Officers Training School in Târgu Ocna is a unique institution in Romania which trains prison staff – men and women, in a one-year curriculum. The school is accredited by the Ministry of National Education. Its mission is to meet specific professional training and development needs of persons who chose a career in the penal enforcement field, as well as to the functioning, development and professional needs of the penitentiary institutions that are part of the system. After completing a one-year curriculum, the graduate student receives a rank of a ”junior correctional officer”. Thus, they will have the chance to be part of an important division of the national security, defence and public order system as well as the possibility to develop their career.
In order to achieve these objectives, the students will undergo several training modules, as well as two practical training periods. The educational process is provided by a staff of teachers, psychologists, specialists and instructors. There are also lectures of specialists from the National Administration of Penitentiaries and other educational centres.
