European Penitentiary Training Academies Network
The Czech Prison Service Academy launches a series of online English seminars. The online seminar will be held on Skype for Business platform on 24 February. The first expert who is going to give a lecture on “Prison Leadership“ is Dan Halchin.
Commissioner Dan HALCHIN, PhD is a Romanian senior corrections officer with experience acquired in a career span of 20 years. His experience proved useful in peace operations as a corrections expert for 6 months in Kosovo and 9 months in Libya. Currently, he is on a United Nations roster as ready to be deployed senior corrections officer – P5 level. After acting as Deputy Director-General of the Romanian Prison Service, between 2015-2017, he is currently in charge of the second-largest prison in Romania, a maximum security facility with 1600 beds.
The target group are prison managers, heads of departments, treatment specialists and other prison officers who find the topic useful for their penitentiary practice. The number of participants the first seminar is limited to is 12; out of them, two places have been reserved for Slovak prison professionals.
The programme is divided into two main parts:
1 – A lecture activating the participants’ listening skills followed by questions to improve their grammar.
2 – A case study serving as reading comprehension followed by a discussion focused on the participants’ communicative proficiency.
