The French National Correctional Administration Academy is organizing an online seminar structured in five sessions of 2h30 on the topic of ethics & deontology in prison and probation. This event is part of the initial training of our trainee prison directors and trainee probation directors who were not able to carry out study visits abroad. They will be actively involved in moderating, drafting a report and intervening to present the French practices and reporting the results of the seminar to interested parties.
There will be speakers from European academies and correctional administration (the Higher School of Criminology and Penitentiary Science in Warsaw, the Belgian correctional administration, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, the Slovakian General Directorate of the Corps of Prison and Court Guard, the Portuguese Directorate-General of Reintegration and Prison Services, the Czech Prison Service Academy, the Swiss Centre of Expertise in Prison and Probation) as well as representatives of the Council of Europe (Council of penological cooperation) and the Confederation of European Probation. Other institutions are yet to be confirmed (Spain, Italy).
They will intervene on four issues :
Reception of ethics in the national penitentiary institution (general approach of the institution, the development of ethics guidelines, the debates and the resistance it sparked)
The impact of the issue of ethics on professional practices in detention
The impact of the issue of ethics on professional probation practices
Assessment, tools and perspectives “inspire, train, control” (how to control the guidelines in place, what perspectives/challenges for the future)
Time will be allocated to ask questions (after interventions) and to debate (Friday morning). Attendees will be able to ask questions by chat or directly (through the moderator who will give the floor), though priority will be given to speakers.
A detailed programme will be published the week prior to the event on this same webpage.
