European Penitentiary Training Academies Network
Between 18 and 21 January 2021, three examination committees tested the readiness of new uniformed staff for their service in Czech prisons.
Their initial training course started on 9 November 2020. It was organized in distance form due to the pandemic. The theory is lectured online by teachers from the Academy and practical training is ensured by designated senior officers in respective prisons.
Out of 90 participants, registered in six groups, four students asked for the suspension of their exams because they are on sick leave or in quarantine. 86 students from 28 prisons took part in the exam. In prison schooling rooms, the examinees were watched by their superiors. IT support in the Academy and in the prisons is always provided. 84 students passed their examinations successfully and they are ready to start working independently.
