ROME – On Monday 16 May 2022, the 7th Prison Police Trainee Inspectors Course began. The course, which will last approximately seven months and will end in mid-November 2022, is aimed at a total number of 691 units, 606 posts allocated to the male role and 85 posts allocated to the female role. The Educational facilities that will host the trainees will be Catania, Verbania, Rome, Cairo Montenotte, Parma, Castiglione delle Stiviere and Sulmona. Moreover, the course, besides being held in presence at the training sites, will also be partly accessible in e-learning mode.
The following subjects will be covered during the course:
A. CRIMINAL ENFORCEMENT LEGAL AREA
• Elements of general public law – (MT 15), Criminal law (MT12), In-depth study (P/L 3 hours);
• Offences specific to the prison worker and police personnel and others recurrent in the prison context and guided discussion (P/L 2 hours);
• The crime of torture; specific case and configuration. Analysis and in-depth study of a conviction for facts occurring in a prison context;
• Prison Rules and Regulations of Execution (P/L 30 hrs.) with in-depth study; (P/L 3 hrs.); The punitive responses with in-depth study (P/L 4 hrs.)
• Restorative and retributive responses with in-depth study: (P/L 2 hours);
• The work of public utility with in-depth study (P/L 2 hours);
• The security measures with guided discussion (P/L 3 hours);
• The role of the police in re-educational treatment with particular reference to the role of the inspector;
• Criminal Execution and the Constitution (MT: 5 hours);
• The Department of Juvenile and Community Justice (P\L 3 hrs) with in-depth discussion (P\L 2 hrs);
• The Interdistrict Units at the Criminal Execution Offices;
• International Conventions on the Protection of Rights (MT 4 hrs);

• Prevention of the risk of re-offending: the contribution of prison staff and the tools available;

• Addictions: Facilities and female sections (P\L 3 hrs), Juvenile Circuits (P\L 4 hrs) with in-depth study (P\L 3 hrs);
• Group dynamics relating to pre-adolescent, adolescent and late adolescent inmates. Analysis of radicalisation and proselytisation phenomena in the young;
